Head Coach: Iosko Assenov

We are excited to announce Iosko Assenov as our 2019 JV Head Coach.
When we started our search for the new leader of our JV program, we wanted a coach with not only strong football knowledge and a solid foundation in player development, but great character and integrity. Someone who could be a role model for our athletes and knows how to relate to youth, able to inspire them to always give their best.
We are extremely fortunate that Iosko will bring this winning combination of qualities and more to our JV program!

Iosko is a proud Predator alumni, having also played during his high school years at Cameron Heights and for one season with the University of  Waterloo Warriors, where he graduated with BA in Legal Studies, Criminology.
Currently coaching this season with Cameron Heights Football, Iosko has enjoyed previous experience with St Mary's High School  as Offesnive Coach & Strength and Conditiioning as well as past coaching terms with Cameron Heights.

Outside of football, Iosko is passionate about making a difference in the community specialising in the field of Social work with children and youth. He has been recognized for his many contributions with numerous awards including Outstanding Leadership and Youth Award nomination, Govt of Ontario Ovation Award nomination and an Inclusion Scholarship/Human Rights award. Recently Iosko was interviewed by CTV News for his iniative to spearhead and manage a charity basketball tournament , bringing together 8 law enforcement agencies to raise over $3000 in 2 days for the Make a Wish foundation.

This summer, Iosko spent time with the Urban Youth Leadership Alliance, where he gave a talk to disadvantaged youth about what it means to be bold and have Integrity - as he states “being a true leader starts with being true to yourself at all costs”. He educates youth about what it means to take a stand for what you believe in, working towards reaching your goals, overcoming adversity, and inspiring others to make social changes.

Iosko's coaching philosophy involves providing an inclusive and mutually respectful environment to foster not only skill development but inspire and motivate players to accomplish their personal goals both on and off the field. "I am committed 100% to my team, day in and day out. I expect from them that which I can deliver. Dedication, hard work and itegrity."   Iosko also believes by challenging each player with a personal development program, he will ensure players can and do get the best of out of themselves over the course of a football season.

With a youthful, skilled and ambitious coaching staff that will include a number of current Waterloo Warriors players, including the return of Defensive Coordinator Shaq Seally and LB coach Mike Reid,  together with Iosko's commitment to competitive excellence and mentorship, we are looking forward to a very successful 2019 JV season.
